In
a formal ceremony
and reception held
on December 13th
featuring several
MAHB Senior
Officers in
attendance, Doug
Gritter
was sworn in as the
HBA 2006 President
.
In
accepting his
official title,
Gritter, a home
builder and owner
of Pine Creek
Construction of
Holland with over
three decades of
carpentry,
remodeling and
construction
experience, was
sworn in by Lee
Kitson, the MAHB's
President for 2006.
In
a brief statement
after the ceremony,
Gritter commented
on the state of the
home building
industry in the
Holland area and
the importance of
being active in the
HBA. "I'd also like
to thank Brian (Meiste)
for his involvement
and guidance and
I'd like to present
him with the Gold
Gavel for his
service to the
association
during2005."
Gritter's company
is divided into
four divisions that
operate under
different
leadership. The
Exterior Remodeling
Division, Interior
Remodeling, Home
Addition and New
Homes Divisions all
work very closely
together in meeting
customer needs.
"Many builders
leave their
remodeling work
behind to
concentrate on new
home construction,
but I think it's a
good
business
decision to
maintain
diversity", said
Gritter,
who used to own an
agricultural
business until
1989.
"My
first love is sales
and working with
people, whether
it's crew members,
customers or our
management team. We
all enjoy seeing
people who are
thrilled with the
work we do for
them. It is
especially
gratifying when
people who brought
us their remodeling
project or "dream
home" sketched on a
napkin can walk
through that dream
home which we
turned into a
reality."
Gritter has served
as Chair of the HBA
Home Expo Committee
and is a member of
the MAHB State
Board of Directors
as well as
participating in
national events
with NAHB.
